Terms of Service

Last updated: September 9, 2026

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

LA Running Clubs (“we,” “us”) runs the free directory at larunningclubs.com (the “Site”). These terms apply to everyone who uses the Site: visitors browsing clubs, people who create an account, club organizers who submit or claim a listing, and anyone who posts updates, open runs, or profile content. By using the Site you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

2. What the Site is (and is not)

The Site is a directory. Club names, schedules, meeting points, prices, and links are provided by club organizers and community members, and can change without notice. We do our best to keep listings current, but we do not verify every detail and we do not organize, host, or supervise any run.

Before you show up to a run, check the club’s own Instagram, website, or group chat for the latest time and place. Each club is independent from us and sets its own rules, fees, and safety practices.

3. Running is a physical activity

Running carries real risks, including injury, traffic, weather, and terrain. You decide whether to attend any run listed here and you do so at your own risk. We are not responsible for what happens at a run, on the way to one, or as a result of information in a listing. If you have a medical condition, talk to a doctor before joining a group run.

4. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use the Site. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian’s permission to create an account or submit a listing.
  • Give us accurate information and keep it up to date. One person per account.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password private and for everything done from your account. Tell us right away through the contact form if you think someone else has used it.
  • We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, is inactive for a long time, or puts other users or the Site at risk.
  • You can delete your account at any time by asking us through the contact form. Public content you posted may stay visible unless you ask us to remove it too.

5. Submitting and claiming a club

When you submit a new club or claim an existing listing, you confirm that you organize the club or are authorized by the people who do. We review submissions before they go live and may edit them for clarity, decline them, or remove a listing later, for any reason.

We may ask for proof before approving a claim, and we may transfer or revoke ownership of a listing if we learn it was claimed by the wrong person. If a club no longer meets, please tell us so we can update or retire the listing.

6. Your content

“Your content” means anything you add to the Site: listing details, photos, club updates, open runs, profile information, and messages. You keep ownership of it. So that we can run the Site, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, display, reproduce, adapt for formatting, and distribute your content on the Site and in material that promotes the Site. This license ends when the content is removed, except for copies already shared publicly or kept in backups for a reasonable period.

You promise that:

  • You have the rights to post it, including permission from any person who appears in a photo.
  • It is accurate and not misleading.
  • It does not break the law, infringe anyone’s rights, or contain harassment, hate, or spam.

We can remove or edit any content, and we do not have to publish anything. If you believe content on the Site infringes your copyright, send us a notice through the contact form with the details required by the DMCA and we will respond promptly.

7. Acceptable use

Do not:

  • Impersonate a person, club, or organization, or claim a club you are not authorized to represent.
  • Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users or organizers.
  • Post advertising or content unrelated to running in Los Angeles.
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the directory in bulk, or use it to build a competing dataset, without written permission.
  • Probe, disrupt, or bypass the Site’s security, rate limits, or access controls.
  • Use the Site for anything illegal.

8. Third-party services and links

Listings link to Instagram, WhatsApp, Strava, club websites, and Google Maps. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices, which we do not control. Maps on the Site are provided by Google and are subject to the Google Maps Terms.

9. Our content

The Site’s design, name, logo, text we wrote, and the way the directory is organized belong to us. You may share links to the Site freely. Anything beyond personal, non-commercial use needs our permission.

10. No warranty

The Site is provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no promises that it will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted, or error-free, and we disclaim all warranties to the fullest extent the law allows, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for personal injury, lost data, or lost opportunities, arising from your use of the Site or attendance at any run listed on it. Our total liability for any claim related to the Site is limited to one hundred US dollars (US$100). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

12. Indemnity

If someone brings a claim against us because of your content, your use of the Site, or a listing you submitted or claimed, you agree to cover our reasonable costs, including legal fees, related to that claim.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law rules. If we have a dispute, we both agree to try to resolve it informally first by writing to each other. If that fails, the dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new “Last updated” date, and for significant changes we will try to notify account holders by email. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
