Running in San Fernando Valley
Anthony C. Beilenson Park at Lake Balboa is the Valley's running hub: a 1.3-mile crushed-gravel loop around the lake connects to miles of flat paths through the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area, all car-free and shaded by mature trees. The Metro G Line path parallels Chandler and Victory Boulevards for long, uninterrupted straightaways, and Balboa Sports Complex offers track access for speed work. In the east Valley, North Hollywood's Arts District has become a weeknight social-run hotspot, with crews staging from breweries and coffee shops along Lankershim. Out west, Woodland Hills and Warner Center groups mix neighborhood miles with post-run hangs. Summers are hot — most Valley clubs run at sunrise or after sundown — but winter and spring mornings here are some of the best running weather in LA.
