Running in East LA & Boyle Heights

The signature route here crosses the Sixth Street Viaduct, the arched bridge that reopened in 2022, with the downtown skyline straight ahead and the LA River below. Mariachi Plaza on 1st Street is the classic meeting point in Boyle Heights, with Hollenbeck Park and its lake a few blocks south. In East LA, Belvedere Park has a flat path around its lake and parking at the East LA Civic Center next door. El Sereno, to the north, adds hills and the trails of Ascot Hills Park. Most clubs here meet on weeknight evenings, keep two or three distance options, and finish at a local cafe or taqueria. Streets are busier and less lit than the beach path, so groups stay together and stop at lights.
